I am reading “The Life of the Automobile”, because the last time I read something like that I was 16 and I feel I do not know enough about this topic. So I order the book and start reading.

I read up to the point when Adolf Hitler orders Ferdinand Porsche to build the Beetle and I stop. Wait a minute. Wasn’t there a fellow before Porsche who build speedy cars? You know, Ettore Bugatti? Only two mentions of his name and no history of one of the most influential and innovative men in car history? The Type 57, man! Oh, the author documented pretty good everybody in the car world who spoke to or about Hitler, ‘cause that was more important.

So yea, it sucks when a book of this type has no pictures to illustrate the various cars and sends me to Wikipedia to read on the missing parts.
