So, two days after i wrote this, i get an email from a startup, about their new taxi app. Which is the same as all the other 3 or 4 taxi app. I used to use 2, one for my city and the other one for the others, but now the first one has national coverage, so i am down to one. But these guys think they have a better/new approach.
The thing is, the market is not growing. There are no more clients than these ones that are using these existing apps. There are no more taxi drivers to bring online. So all these apps are fighting for the same client. At one point the other 2 parties (the client and the cabbie) will realize it’s pointless to be online on all the apps, as the clients and the drivers are the same.
And then will be fun.
I used the taxi example, but this happens in various markets.
