Want to shoot video with your Sony A57? Use an external mic or a SSM lens!

11 March 2013

You can’t find any data about this. Sony does not mention this in the manuals or on the web. The A57 shoots some horrible video, even with the kit lens. You can hear the lens moving on the video! With Sony lens and with other lens. There are two solutions to avoid this: use an […]

Why I am selling my Sony SLT A57

22 February 2013

Last year, i was so impressed with the capabilities of SLT technology I sold my Canon 60D for an A57. One year later, I really can’t stand it anymore. The problems are as follow: Noise. I shoot a lot of pictures indoors. Family events, two grandsons playing, products. And I shoot on Auto ISO. The […]

12 February 2013

I’ve switched to CloudFront as a CDN provider for my main blog. The stats: 180.000 monthly unique visitors, 10-12.000 daily unique visitors, 93 Gb traffic for the regular hosting (html and blog images), 30 Gb from CloudFront (just the CSS and the theme images). Final costs: 13.86$.

CES lost his mojo

11 January 2013

I watch CES news like everybody else. Not so much to report, really. A lot of big tvs, a lot of stupid photo cameras, a lot of hd camcorders. Nikon D5100 is a good example of what the tech world has become by using a Toshiba sensor. Other camera manufacturers use Sony sensors. Even Apple […]

CopyBlogger: practice what you preach

9 January 2013

Read an article on CopyBlogger about fast websites. Pressed F12, loaded that article. Took five seconds on first load, 3 seconds on second. Took a screenshot, told them about it. Comment was not approved. Smiled. I eat wordpress optimization for breakfast. I make money optimizing blogs for agencies and private clients. I have a fast […]

Watch out for SuperFish/Shopping Assitant

7 January 2013

This morning my Google Reader started acting weird. It was loading just one item from every folder, even though the folder had numerous items. I have blocked cookies from every site and, upon further investigation, noticed a site name superfish.com trying to plant a cookie. I don’t visit superfish and I thought it was 3rd […]

Tablet war

29 December 2012

There is one aspect of the tablet war everyone keeps forgetting. Not the price, the specs, the ecosystem, the app store and all that. For me, a big deal is the font. And iPad has the very best fonts out there. It’s just a pleasure reading something on Safari’s Reader, on Flipboard or Pocket. And […]

Social Media shift

22 December 2012

Some months ago, a US friend came to visit and we chatted a bit about social media . We were balls deep in Facebook and Twitter and felt like we discovered the world. They passed that some time ago. Sure, Facebook has a lot of visitors and interactions, but the smart people have found ways […]

More pageviews, more money…

8 December 2012

I’m half-way through “Trust Me, I’m Lying” by Ryan Holiday and I could not help myself notice the similarities of blogs like Gawker and Business Insider to Romanian news sites in the domain of shocking titles and fake articles. The question is when or how will it end.
