About great products and marketing budget

7 November 2013

Flipping through this presentation about the mobile world, I saw again the enormous Samsung Mobile budget. They are living proof is not enough to have the greatest smartphone, you got to have a big marketing budget. The average Joe sees the Galaxy S4 in Ray Donovan’s hands and that is what he buys. He doesn’t […]

DSLR camera market at a stop – and the tech sites….

4 November 2013

First, two quotes from an article by Kirk Tuck: The vast majority of buyers of all cameras, DSLR’s, mirror less, high end compacts, etc. were hobbyists  and amateur photographers who, after years of pursuing some sort of competence in the craft have come to the conclusion that the whole art genre of photography is somewhat […]

Yes, Microsoft, Windows should be free

22 October 2013

Apple just release the new OSX titled Maverick for free. I was expecting a move like this from Microsoft. Because their real business is Office, not Windows. Windows is just a window to doing a lot of things. And now is the time, with the PC market going down.

Feedly and Netvibes realize how complicated Reader was

27 June 2013

I’ve been using both of them. Both suck mildly. Netvibes updates slowly and displays even slower. Feedly has that stupid idea of displaying a big story, even if I selected magazine view. And displays again read items. And this comes from lack of servers.

PC – bleak future

15 April 2013

There are three important things to note in the past few days. Erich Schmidt from Google saying that by 2020 every human on the planet will be online. Sure, this is not going to happen, and people cited lack of water or electricity, but he is on to something: it is easier to be online […]

Why is Dell in trouble?

31 March 2013

The first reason that comes to mind is the one everybody knows: the PC is almost dead. But, there is more to it that that. Dell never had good products. It had cheap products. Mediocre products. Not having good products made people look for alternatives and as soon as it found them. Dell existed only […]

CES lost his mojo

11 January 2013

I watch CES news like everybody else. Not so much to report, really. A lot of big tvs, a lot of stupid photo cameras, a lot of hd camcorders. Nikon D5100 is a good example of what the tech world has become by using a Toshiba sensor. Other camera manufacturers use Sony sensors. Even Apple […]

Domain Name Management for .ro domains

2 February 2012

All of my domains have the same NameServers: ns1.bule.org, ns2.bule.org… Bule.org is a domain name I registered in 2006, along bule.ro just because i liked how it sounds. I sold bule.ro to Orlando some time later, but kept the .org. And moving from one hosting to another (dreamhost, imountain, mediatemple, synco and others), i found […]

Looking for a better video player for iPad

30 January 2012

I have some video files that MediaPlayer, my player of choice, does not like. It does not play AC3, he does not like some mov or some xvid files. I’ve tried CineXPlayer and ACEPlayer and they are even dumber. CineXPLayer shuts down when i click on a movie instead of playing it. ACEPlayer freezes when […]

The problem with Flash

12 November 2011

It’s not the CPU consumption. Not even close. It’s the faulty product. By the time you have red  these 20 words, a new Flash exploit has been found. And this is a fact. I don’t care about my phone battery, i care about occupying 100% of my processor after i have closed the tab on […]
